This course aims to help students identify in what respects their writing needs improvement, and to give them the opportunity to practice these aspects. In order to achieve these goals, we will rely on model texts to identify certain stylistic features, will discuss matters of grammar and vocabulary, and have practice in diverse text types. Course participants will receive regular and individual feedback on their writing.

Réka Mihálka is a lecturer in Academic English at the Academic English Services at the University of Bern. She received her summa cum laude PhD in English Literature at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary in 2011. Beforehand, she held fellowships at Kyoto University, Japan; Birkbeck College, University of London, UK; the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium; and New York University, the USA. She has been living in Switzerland for more than three years.
