The goal of the course is to help the participants fine-tune their writing. The seven sessions will comprise a mixture of input, pair- and groupwork, writing exercises, and individual consultations with the lecturer. The topics, activities, and homework will be suggested taking into account the needs of the group and the participants' current writing projects. The participants will receive regular feedback on their texts.

Galina Savukova is a Lecturer in Academic English at the Academic English Services of the University of Bern, which she joined after completing her doctoral studies in English at the City University of New York in 2010. She has been teaching at the university level since 1995 and has focused on academic writing during the past twelve years. She has acted as a consultant to college faculty within the frames of Writing across the Curriculum and Writing in the Disciplines projects and has edited numerous papers in preparation for publication. Favoring an interdisciplinary approach in her own research, she has presented and published on education, poetry, and film. She has already taught two courses to IASH students.
